It's lunchtime and I have joined him in the exquisite London restaurant to find out why he is quitting as Dr Andrew Attwood in the popular ITV series after six years.

With his short blond hair, piercing blue eyes and towering 6ft toned figure, 34-year-old Gary has gained a pin-up status among the drama's 12 million viewers.



So imagine my surprise then when I discover Gary's youthful looks are not matched by an outgoing personality - or at least not with me.
